A Cupcake Adventure.
Here is a sweet video of a cupcake who dreams of sailing away and leaving it’s life behind for an adventure at sea! A very endearing stop motion video created by Kirsten Lepore using veggies, fruits & sweet snacks.
I Adore: January 2009, Part II
- Have you ever wondered what Joseph Stalin looked like as a young man? See photos of politicians when they were young here.
- As an avid lover of all things anatomical, I can’t believe it took me this long to discover Street Anatomy.
- If you adore all things French, you will love The Paris Apartment Blog, written by a charming woman named Claudia. She has a darling book out called ‘The Paris Apartment: Romantic Decor on a Flea-Market Budget‘. You can purchase it here.
- Ok my friends. Imagine this:
Over the course of the 39 days of the exhibition (September 18 through October 26, 2008), the paper absorbed the ink from the pens. The sheets at the top of each stack absorbed more ink than the sheets farther away from the tips of the pens. The result is an edition of organically related prints, each unique.
The ink reached the 31st sheet in the stack of paper that comprises the top half of the diptych and the 29th sheet of the stack that comprises the bottom half of the diptych.Prior to discovering the extent of the edition, it was determined that the price of each diptych would equal the highest number of sheets stained by the ink.
Now for the final product: Prismacolor Pen Print by Daniel Eatock.
- If you love Geek.com, you will find the Mental Floss store very entertaining. Their t-shirts are so witty. [and corny]
- The Em & Sprout Shop on Etsy [named lovingly after her kitties!] creates darling whimsical shoes but in adult sizes, along with cute t-shirts and accessories! Whether you like kitties, zombies, monsters or cute pink bows on leopard print, she has you covered. She also accepts custom orders. My personal favorites are the Winking Kitty Puff Sleeve top and the Pirate Princess shoes. Psst. Lindsay is also the mastermind behind Kid Pirate!
- I just discovered Skin Graft Designs. Damn those are some gorgeous clothes.
- Fumie Sasabuchi uses colored pencils and ballpoint pens to turn everyday fashion magazine spreads into flesh and bone. Fucking perfection.
- Want to survive the Apocalypse in style? Check out: Designer Gasmasks.
- Kate Cusack turns something normally hidden into the main attraction: Zipper Jewelry.
- The brilliant Photography of Holgar Pooten.
Louise Black Designs.

I am quite proud to live in the same city as the amazing designer Louise Black. She is currently selling her creations exclusively on Etsy. I think her designs speak for themselves.

[from Louise Black's Etsy profile]
I’ve been selling on Etsy for only a short while (and loving it here), but I’ve been designing and sewing for years and selling online since 2000. All pieces are sewn in-house with fine detail work hand-stitched. I’m adding new items quite often including both limited reproducibles and one-of-a-kind pieces, so do check back often. Some of you may recognize my work from dollflesh clothing or even back from the eye-spy eclectics days.
If you are into things dark, decadent with an anatomical twist, her shop will leave you lusting over her beautiful creations.

Purchase her designs @ Etsy.

Link Love: January 2009
- Cherry Blossom Necklace made by Poetic Designs. It’s one of my favorites from their Winter Collection. Other designs from PD: 1 2 3
- Magic Pill earrings. I love the packaging.
- The amazing creations of Yulia Brodskaya. Not only is she an illustrator, but she does ‘papergraphic’, ‘typographic’ & graphic design.
- Shiseido’s Ultimate Sun Protection Creme is the shit [and a steal @ $33]
- French actress Marion Cotillard is the new face of the Lady Dior ads!
- Japanese multimedia designer, Futurismo Zugakousaku creates a video installation with Nick Chan (Muon). Watch it here.
- Horoscopes for Artsy Types! Before you rush to read about your own sign, read the intro for the year and what it has to say about Obama and his chart. Very interesting.
- Mark Jenkins plays with his art.
- Self-initiated T-shirt 2009 by Petter Hanberger. It’s a screenprint of the 2009 calendar. A pen is attached to it, so that the owner can fill in one box for each day that the shirt is being used. After one year the t-shirt design is finished.
- Hyper-realistic paintings by Robert Bernardi.
- Eat Off Me plates, designed by Japanese designer Hiroshi Tsunoda to resemble the controversial Japanese tradition called ‘Nyotaimori’, which is the practice of eating sushi off a woman’s naked body. More on the design and an interview with the designer here.
- Eugenio Recuenco’s Photography.
- I have a crush on the gal who runs the TEA room.
- The art of Candace Tripp. Wowza!
- Take a look inside Jay Walker’s personal Library.
